When applications are delivered as “published applications” they look and feel like locally installed applications on the PC. The published application is executed from the Start Menu or Desktop and appears to run locally, although it is actually running in the Cloud.
In the same way that an application can be delivered from the Cloud, so can an entire Windows desktop. In this scenario the Hosted Virtual Desktop, or HVD, effectively replaces the local desktop and users execute all of their programs in the Cloud. The applications would typically include Microsoft Office, Microsoft Outlook/Exchange, and any other business applications required.
